# Creating Surveys

Effective surveys are concise, well-designed, and focused on actionable feedback. Here's how to create surveys in Topicflow.

## How to create a survey

1. Go to Surveys and click "Create Survey"
2. Choose survey type (pulse, engagement, custom)
3. Add questions
4. Configure settings (anonymous, required, etc.)
5. Select participants
6. Set schedule (one-time or recurring)
7. Launch

## Survey question types

**Rating scales**

* 1-5 or 1-10 scales
* Likert scales (Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree)
* Good for quantitative analysis

**Multiple choice**

* Select one or multiple options
* Good for structured feedback

**Open-ended text**

* Free-form responses
* Good for qualitative insights

**Yes/No**

* Binary questions
* Good for simple checks

## Designing effective surveys

**Keep it short**

* Engagement surveys: 10-15 questions max
* Pulse surveys: 3-5 questions
* Longer surveys reduce completion rates

**Ask clear questions**
Avoid vague or leading questions.

**Focus on actionable topics**
Don't ask questions unless you're willing to act on the results.

**Balance quantitative and qualitative**
Use scales for trends, open-ended for context.

**Test before launching**
Preview the survey to ensure questions are clear.
