Effective surveys are concise, well-designed, and focused on actionable feedback. Here’s how to create surveys in Topicflow.

How to create a survey

  1. Go to Surveys and click “Create Survey”
  2. Choose survey type (pulse, engagement, custom)
  3. Add questions
  4. Configure settings (anonymous, required, etc.)
  5. Select participants
  6. Set schedule (one-time or recurring)
  7. Launch

Survey question types

Rating scales
  • 1-5 or 1-10 scales
  • Likert scales (Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree)
  • Good for quantitative analysis
Multiple choice
  • Select one or multiple options
  • Good for structured feedback
Open-ended text
  • Free-form responses
  • Good for qualitative insights
Yes/No
  • Binary questions
  • Good for simple checks

Designing effective surveys

Keep it short
  • Engagement surveys: 10-15 questions max
  • Pulse surveys: 3-5 questions
  • Longer surveys reduce completion rates
Ask clear questions Avoid vague or leading questions. Focus on actionable topics Don’t ask questions unless you’re willing to act on the results. Balance quantitative and qualitative Use scales for trends, open-ended for context. Test before launching Preview the survey to ensure questions are clear.
